Welcome to the Higher Pursuits Duck River Base. At Higher Pursuits we help you have a great time on the Duck River  by offering canoe/kayak rentals, guided river trips, educational programs, and workshops for individuals, families and organizations.  Our goal is to help you connect with the natural wonder of the Duck River.

Higher Pursuits is proud to announce the opening of our Duck River Base located just minutes from downtown Columbia at 3114 Cheeks Bend Rd, Columbia, TN.

The new Duck River Base will feature:

• Guided canoe and kayak trips
• Canoe and kayak rentals
• Primitive camping (no electricity or running water)
• Picnic area for paddlers
• Educational materials about the Duck River

The goal of our new river base is to provide opportunities for individuals, groups and families to relax, enjoy the outdoors and learn more about the wonderful natural resource, the Duck River.

After the Flood: 

The Duck River near Columbia was not significantly impacted by the flood in May.  The river sustained very little damage and there is no new debris or significant obstacles from the May flood.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families, businesses, and fellow Tennesseans who lost so much during this historic flood.

Canoe Rentals and Guided Trips

Memorial Day to Labor Day:

• Open 7 days a week
• Saturday: Open at 8 am
• Sunday through Friday: Open at 9 am
• Last pick up no later than 6 pm. We ask that your group arrive at the canoe base by 2 pm so we can pick you up no later than 6 pm.
• If you need an earlier or later time, call and we will see if we can accommodate your request.

• November to April: By Appointment Only
• May: Mon - Fri: By Appointment Only; Sat and Sun: 9 am to 4 pm
• Labor Day to October: Mon - Fri: By Appointment Only; Sat and Sun: 9 am to 4 pm
